At Pioneer Bank, we wholeheartedly believe in the Six Pillars of Character through Character Counts!  We recently partnered with Character Counts! of Chaves County to provide banners for every school in the county.  These banners display the Six Pillars, Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship, as a daily reminder to schoolchildren.

Character Counts! In Chaves County (CCCC) will be celebrating Character Counts! Week October 15-19. The entire week will be recognized with activities and events within the Chaves County schools.

Each school in the area will begin the week with special activities. On Tuesday, October 16, CCCC will be holding a Super Celebration in the RHS Commons beginning at 6:00 p.m. Entries for the essay, poetry and art will be awarded and the students will be recognized.

Local first responders will be awarded for exemplary character at the Honor the Badge program. This event will be held on Wednesday, October 17th 6:00 p.m. at the Chaves County Administration Building. Sponsored by Pioneer Bank, this program enables the community to honor and thank all those who wear a badge and to let them know how much we appreciate their sacrifice and dedication to protect us in Chaves County. On Thursday, October 18, Chaves County Commissioners will official proclaim Character Counts Week 2018.

The final event of the week will be on Friday, October 19th at the Spring River Park and Zoo. From 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., families are encouraged to bring their children out to visit the Six Pillars of Character throughout the zoo. Those who complete the walk-through will be awarded with free hot dogs and snow-cones. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Character Counts! is a nationwide character-education and ethical decision-making program that promotes the Six “Pillars of Good Character”: Caring, Citizenship, Fairness, Respect, Responsibility and Trustworthiness. Character Counts! Week provides a time to reinforce the importance of teaching basic ethical values to youth. The Chaves County organization recognizes several people throughout the year through these programs: Honor the Volunteers, Teacher of Character, Youth Character Awards, and Athletes of Character.
